A Mindset Update
You’ve probably seen that familiar notification pop up on your phone or computer: “A software update is available.” Most of us click “Remind me later.” It can seem inconvenient. We don’t want to stop what we’re doing in case the update takes too long. We don’t have time to restart everything. But here’s the truth: without regular updates, the device slows down, apps crash, and eventually it stops working altogether.
Your mindset works in much the same way. Just like outdated software can limit a device’s performance, an outdated mindset can limit your growth. If you keep running on the same old beliefs, and thought patterns, you’ll keep encountering the same issues. Personal growth often requires an internal update, a shift in the way you think, see yourself, and approach life.
But let’s be honest, we often resist the mental and emotional updates we know we need. Like software, we delay the change. It feels too time-consuming. We worry it will disrupt our comfort. We count the temporary inconvenience instead of considering the long-term benefit. But just like that ignored update can slow down a device, neglecting the inner work can lead to stagnation, or cycles we can’t seem to break.
The good news? When you finally give yourself permission to upgrade your thinking and challenge limiting beliefs, you realise how much smoother life can run. You start to think clearer and dream bigger. Then you find yourself saying, “I wish I’d done this sooner.”
Once you click “Yes” on that software update, the system gets to work without you needing to control every detail. The same is true with personal growth. When you give God permission to begin the inner work, He initiates the transformation. You don’t have to strive to fix everything, just surrender and allow the update and renewing process to begin.
